Over the past
20 or so years, the incidence of diabetes in children has become alarming. Is
it any wonder that in the same time frame, the shelves of grocery stores have
become flooded with sugar-laden foods and beverages? We are creating a
generation of sugar addicts.
It is very
confusing to read a label that says a product is 100% “fat free”, but understand
that once that product is consumed it can become 100% fat in our bodies. That’s
because our body is conditioned to keep our blood sugar level within a tight
range. If we drink a 12-ounce soda, for example, with a meal we are adding
approximately 150 calories that we simply do not need for energy (unless you
plan to immediately go for a run for 15 minutes). Those calories will be
converted into fat. Imagine if that cola is “super-sized”. Now you have
quadrupled those calories and the fat that comes with it…all from a product that
is marketed as “fat-free”!

am considered to be in good shape for my age. I am asked about this so

I have been living the lifestyle I adapted 7
years ago and I continue to stay lean, grow muscle, and burn body fat. I
have good stamina and regularly run 6-10 miles at a time and ride my
bicycle for 35- 50.
I established a firm muscle mass 3-4 years
ago and have maintained it even though I don’t lift weights on a regular
basis.
My recent lab work (included on this website)
was even better than I expected and I realize that my diet and lifestyle
are providing me with the best opportunity to live a long, healthy life.
